IBO in Dera Ismail Khan kills 10 terrorists, soldier martyred

Security forces killed at least 10 terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday. However, an army officer was martyred in the operation as well.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations, security forces received reports about the presence of terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday and engaged the location after surrounding it.

In the operation, the army successfully eliminated 10 terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

However, an army officer, Captain Hasnain Akhtar, embraced martyrdom in the operation. Akhtar was a resident of Jhelum and was 24 years old, according to ISPR.

“Captain Husnain was a brave officer & was renowned for his courage, bold & daring actions during previous operations,” the statement said.

ISPR added that weapons were recovered from the slain terrorists who had been involved in multiple acts of terrorism including attacks against law enforcement agencies and civilians. A sanitization operation was also carried out after the operation.

In 2024, security forces conducted 59,775 IBOs against terrorists across Pakistan, killing 925 terrorists.
