Police in Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have killed a high-profile terrorist commander, Kifayatullah, also known as Kifayati, in an intelligence-based operation. The operation took place in the Nawarkhail area, within the jurisdiction of Laki City Police Station.
Acting on the instructions of DIG Bannu Region, Sajjad Khan, a joint police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) team, led by DPO Lakki Marwat, Nazir Khan, carried out the operation. Local sources indicate that police received credible information that Kifayatullah, wanted for the targeted killing of police officers, bomb attacks, and other terrorist activities, was planning a new attack.
During the operation, police sources say, terrorists opened fire on the police party, injuring Constable Rizwan. A sustained exchange of fire ensued, and following the cessation of hostilities, a search revealed the body of a terrorist identified as Kifayatullah, also known as Kifayati, who was wanted for attacks on police and security forces. A loaded Kalashnikov and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
DIG Bannu Region, Sajjad Khan, praised the bravery and commitment of the officers and personnel involved in the operation, stating his pride in their efforts. Further clearance and search operations are ongoing in the area.
