The Pakistani government announced a reduction in diesel prices, effective August 16, 2025, while maintaining the price of petrol. High-speed diesel (HSD) saw a decrease of Rs12.84 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs272.99.
This price reduction is expected to ease the cost of transportation for both agricultural and commercial sectors, as HSD is widely used in tractors and goods transportation.
The price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs264.61 per litre. Kerosene oil also received a price cut, falling by Rs7.19 per litre to Rs178.27, and light diesel oil decreased by Rs8.20, reaching Rs162.37 per litre.
The government cited international market trends and recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and relevant ministries as the basis for these price adjustments. The previous prices were Rs273.40 per litre for diesel and Rs272.95 per litre for petrol.
