Gohram Bugti arrested before long march

Jamhoori Watan Party leader Gohram Bugti was arrested early on Friday ahead of a planned long march towards Quetta.

He was arrested from Bugti House in Dera Bugti and did not resist the efforts to detain him, police said.

Dera Bugti’s district commissioner issued orders to detain Gohram Bugti under the Maintainance of Public Order Ordinance. The DC ordered that Bugti should be transferred to Sibi jail.

The JWP had announced a long march towards Quetta to demand the release of Dr Mahrang Baloch and other detained leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee. Balochistan National Party President Akhtar Mengal is leading a separate protest to demand the release of BYC leaders as well. Baloch was arrested on March 22 follwoing a sit-in to demand release of BYC leaders.

Gohram Bugti is a former member of the Balochistan Assembly and is the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
