Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur chaired a high-level meeting to review the security situation in the merged districts, including North and South Waziristan. The meeting was attended by relevant provincial ministers and senior government officials.
A statement released from the Chief Minister’s House said that the meeting decided to formulate a joint and consensual strategy involving all schools of thought and the public to eliminate terrorism. Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the need for all political parties to rise above politics and adopt a unified approach to establishing peace and security. He urged public representatives to work together to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy.
The meeting also decided to form a government delegation tasked with visiting all areas to accelerate public consultations on developing a joint counter-terrorism strategy. Furthermore, an all-parties conference will be convened, with invitations sent to parliamentary leaders from all political parties.
Chief Minister Gandapur has also called an emergency meeting of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly members from the merged districts. He stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through meaningful action, mutual consultation, and unanimous decisions.
