Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met with Afghanistan’s Ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakib for discussions on bilateral relations, cooperation, and regional stability. The meeting, which also included the Chief Minister’s advisor on information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, focused on strengthening practical ties between the two countries. Barrister Saif has been tasked with liaising with relevant Afghan authorities to achieve this goal.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Gandapur offered assistance in establishing a cancer hospital in Afghanistan and pledged significant support for the agricultural sector. He reiterated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s commitment to the well-being of the Afghan people.
Both leaders emphasized the strong historical ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan, citing shared borders, language, ethnicity, tribal connections, and religious bonds. They agreed on the need to strengthen these ties through peace, brotherhood, and mutual respect, and to work together against the nefarious designs of external forces to ensure a secure and peaceful future for generations to come.
Ambassador Shakib expressed gratitude to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for its care of Afghan refugees and reaffirmed Afghanistan’s commitment to fostering stronger relations with Pakistan.
Chief Minister Gandapur announced plans to send a special delegation to Afghanistan to build trust and harmony between the peoples of both nations. The delegation will act as a bridge, fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Gandapur had also announced that he would send a delegation to Afghanistan in 2024. In response, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had called the move an ‘attack on the federation’.
