Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is grappling with the aftermath of flash floods triggered by torrential rain and hailstorms. The severe weather, which struck various districts including Chitral, Khyber, Charsadda, and Swabi on Friday, caused significant damage to crops, houses, and infrastructure.

At least eight people sustained injuries from a lightning strike in Charsadda. The floods, swelling streams and rivers, severely impacted Lower Chitral, where three houses were destroyed and the Chitral-Peshawar road was temporarily closed, stranding passengers and vehicles.

In Khyber district, the storms damaged crops and shattered car windows, while Swabi saw significant damage to tobacco and other crops.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood alert for the Kabul River and its tributaries and canceled weekend leaves for concerned officers to prepare for potential emergencies. Further heavy rain and hailstorms are anticipated in the next 24 hours.

Local volunteers and rescue teams are working tirelessly to relocate stranded passengers and patients to safer areas. The National Highway Authority (NHA) is also actively engaged in restoring the damaged Chitral-Peshawar road.
