The federal cabinet has unanimously approved declaring Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) a banned organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, following a detailed briefing on the group’s violent and disruptive activities across the country. Officials informed the meeting that since its formation in 2016, the organization has been involved in inciting unrest, which has led to several violent incidents in different parts of the country.
During the meeting, recommendations from the Punjab government regarding the group’s activities were also presented.
After reviewing the briefing and Punjab government’s report, the federal cabinet concluded that TLP has been involved in acts of terrorism and violence. To maintain peace and ensure public safety, the cabinet gave final approval to officially ban the organization.
