Families of martyred police officers in Lakki Marwat have announced a complete boycott of all official government events from August 4th (Police Martyrs’ Day) to August 14th (Independence Day) 2025. The families claim that despite the martyrs’ package being announced in 2016, they have yet to receive their legal and constitutional entitlements.
In a protest statement, the bereaved families asserted that symbolic gestures like visiting graves, laying flowers, and distributing sweets are insufficient to address their suffering. They demanded concrete action, stating that mere prayers and empty promises are not enough to sustain them.
They are demanding that the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa immediately provide the promised benefits under the martyrs’ package, including government jobs, allowances, and other promised facilities, to ensure their families can live with dignity.
The families expressed their commitment to peaceful protest and delivering their message to the higher authorities. They warned that the boycott is only the beginning, and if their demands are not met, they will escalate their protests. The families are seeking justice and the fulfillment of promises made to those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
