In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, security forces killed eight terrorists in a major counterterrorism operation following an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the militants.
According to police sources, the incident took place in Zarif Wala village, where an IED planted by terrorists went off.
After receiving information about the blast, a large contingent of security forces rushed to the site. As the personnel began to cordon off the area, a heavy exchange of fire broke out between the forces and a group of militants.
During the gun battle, eight terrorists were killed on the spot. Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other combat equipment from their possession.
Officials confirmed that the operation was part of efforts to eliminate terrorist threats in the region, and a search operation is still underway to clear the area.
