Dar meets Afghan FM Muttaqi in Beijing

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Afghan Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Beijing where they discussed issues of bilateral and regional interest.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “The two recalled DPM/FM’s recent visit to Kabul and welcomed positive momentum in bilateral ties, including enhanced diplomatic engagement, trade, and transit facilitation.”

“They agreed to work together to advance mutual interests, including in the domains of trade, transit, connectivity and security,” the statement added.

The meeting comes after Dar held several other meetings as part of his three-day visit to Beijing including a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The visit comes after a ceasefire was achieved between India and Pakistan. After Indian missile and drone strikes on several cities, Pakistan had responded by downing at least six Indian aircraft and had hit 26 military targets inside india.
