Curfew imposed for 13 hours in South Waziristan

A curfew will be in effect in various areas of Upper and Lower South Waziristan District from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM on August 28, 2025, according to a notification issued by the district administration. All movement will be restricted during the curfew, and all markets and bazaars will be closed.

The administration has urged public cooperation to maintain peace and order. Entry into the tehsils of Barmal and Shakai will be strictly prohibited. Specific affected routes include: Wana-Tiarza Gate-Karab Kot-Tanai-Aziz Abad Chowk to Dargai Bridge, and Shakai-Anzar China to Wana. In Upper South Waziristan, entry will be restricted on the following routes: Spin Khai Ragzai to Nazar Khel; Asman Manza-Kanigaram-Sherongi-Spin Jamaat to Torwam; Dargai Bridge; Madi Jan; Shane Warsak; Moula Khan Sarai to Chagmala; and Sarwikai-Moula Khan Sarai to Barwand.

Emergency exceptions will be granted with permission from police or security forces, upon presentation of identification and necessary documentation. Civilians are instructed to pull their vehicles off the road 100 meters away upon sighting security forces’ vehicles. Travelers from Dera Ismail Khan and Tank to Upper South Waziristan are advised to avoid travel during this period.

The district administration stated that these measures are necessary to maintain peace and improve the security situation.
