The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar, in a joint operation with local police, successfully neutralized three active militants linked to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group in Regi Lalma, Peshawar. The operation, conducted following sustained technical surveillance, resulted in the deaths of three militants during an exchange of fire.

One militant has been identified as Abdullah alias Jawad, an Afghan national. The identities of the other two are still being confirmed. Recovered weapons and materials included an M4 rifle, an M16 rifle, an SMG, a 2.5kg IED, a hand grenade, four smartphones, 125 rounds of ammunition, and six magazines.

Intelligence suggests this group was responsible for at least 18 terrorist attacks in Peshawar District. These attacks targeted police posts, police vehicles, and civilians, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among security personnel and civilians. Specific incidents include attacks on multiple police posts, resulting in the deaths of several police officers and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, as well as IED attacks and ambushes. Two civilians were also targeted in an extortion attempt.

Preliminary investigations indicate the militants were part of a TTP cell operating under the direction of foreign handlers and receiving external funding. The group was reportedly planning further attacks against security forces, infrastructure, and pro-government individuals.
