Three suspected terrorists were killed during a joint counter-terrorism operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on July 4, 2025. Police spokesperson Aamir Khan stated that the intelligence-led operation targeted members of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)’s Tipu Gul group in the Bathani Neh area.

The 25-minute encounter resulted in the deaths of Waseemullah (alias Umar Khattab), Qudratullah (alias Abu Bakr), and Hijratullah (alias Hijrat). These individuals were reportedly wanted by the Bannu CTD for involvement in various crimes, including the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), attacks on police, and the targeted killings of Waheedullah (a CTD officer), Traffic Constable Anwar Sher, and Constable Idrees.

Lakki Marwat has experienced a surge in militant activity in recent months, despite efforts by local peace committees to quell the violence. This incident follows the recent killing of a peace committee leader and two associates in the district.
