The Counter-Terrorism Department has arrested four suspects in connection with the Jaffar Express attack.

Investigations into the Jaffar Express attack are continuing with a forensic analysis being conducted on the devices found from the slain terrorists. The finger prints of the attackers are also being analyzed.

On March 11, terrorists had hijacked the Jaffar Express near Sibi as it travelled from Quetta to Peshawar. Terrorists had blown up the rail track and taken the passengers hostage in a remote area. The banned Baloch Liberation Army had claimed responsibility for the attack.

However, security forces ended the hijacking after a two-day operation in which 33 terrorists were killed. No hostages were hurt during the operation. However, 26 people were killed before the operation including 18 members of the armed forces.

After the incident, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations had announced that the terrorists had been in contact with handlers in Afghanistan.
