The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, visited Pakistan on February 27, 2025, and met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. This marked Sheikh Khaled’s first official visit to Pakistan in his capacity as Crown Prince.
During a meeting and subsequent delegation-level talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the already strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the increasingly close cooperation between the two nations, aiming to translate their excellent political relationship into a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
He referenced a recent productive meeting with the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and emphasized the potential of projects like the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Line to boost regional development and benefit ports in Gwadar and Abu Dhabi.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the UAE’s consistent support for Pakistan, particularly during challenging times, and welcomed the UAE’s expanding investment in Pakistan, citing recent successful investment initiatives between Pakistani entities and Abu Dhabi Ports as an example of this growing collaboration.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s economic progress and prosperity. The meeting concluded with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements covering banking, mining, infrastructure development, and railways. Prime Minister Sharif later took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his satisfaction with the discussions and the commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties through increased trade, investment, and energy cooperation.
“With the encouragement and support of the UAE’s Royal family, Pakistan-UAE ties are growing from strength to strength!” Shehbaz said.
