LEA officials are being increasingly targeted outside of their duty hours
A police constable, was shot and killed by unknown armed assailants in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.
The shooting occurred near a private clinic near the Shakhi Gate are where the constable, identified as Khan Badshah, was reportedly seeking medical treatment.
Police sources confirmed the incident and reported that a large contingent of police officers has been dispatched to the scene. An investigation into the killing is underway.
Kulachi was also the site of a terrorist attack on an imam bargah on Thursday. A bomb exploded late at night near the bargah and sound of firing was also heard.
However, the building of the imam bargah remained undamaged. There were no casualties as the caretaker was in Punjab at the time of the attack.
Terrorist attacks against law enforcement officials have picked up in recent months. Police officials have also been attacked outside of their duties and their homes have also been attacked in several instances.
