COAS visits flood-hit areas in Punjab

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited flood-affected areas in Punjab, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal and Kartarpur, to review the situation and ongoing relief efforts.

According to ISPR, during the visit, the Army Chief received a detailed briefing on the prevailing conditions and the preparations for the upcoming spell of rains. He met with civil administration officials and was briefed on measures taken to minimise the loss of lives and property.

The COAS also interacted with members of the Sikh community in the affected areas and assured them that all damaged religious sites, including the Durbar Sahib Kartarpur, would be restored to their original condition on priority. Representatives of the Sikh community welcomed the assurance and acknowledged the efforts of the civil administration and the Army in rescue and relief work. He also conducted an aerial survey of the Durbar Sahib Kartarpur site.

In his interaction with troops, the Army Chief noted their role in rescue and relief operations during the floods. He was received on arrival by the Corps Commander Gujranwala.
