Catastrophe avoided in Lakki Marwat as police defuses 45-kg bomb

A large-scale bomb plot was successfully thwarted in Lakki Marwat, Pakistan, thanks to the timely intervention of the police bomb disposal squad (BDS).

Police received information about three interconnected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted beneath a main road in the Abbasa Khattak area, within the jurisdiction of Dadewala Police Station.

Responding swiftly, local police, led by District Police Officer Muhammad Jawad Ishaq, cordoned off the area.

The BDS team successfully recovered the IEDs, which weighed a total of 45 kilograms. A total of three bombs had been linked together. The bombs were safely defused, preventing a potentially catastrophic incident.

Authorities believe the perpetrators intended to target police and security forces. However, the people behind the attack have not been identified.

No one has claimed responsibility for the bombs either. Since last December, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has stepped up attacks against security forces aiming to dampen their morale. While the group claims not to target civilians, several attacks have caused casualties among the ordinary population as well
