The BRICS group of nations has declared the Gaza Strip an “inseparable part of the occupied Palestinian Territory,” demanding the reunification of the West Bank and Gaza under the Palestinian Authority.
The declaration, Anadolu Agency reported, strongly reaffirmed “the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State of Palestine.”
The BRICS statement expressed “grave concern” over Israel’s ongoing attacks and the impediment of humanitarian aid, explicitly condemning the use of starvation as a method of warfare. The bloc urged all parties to engage in good-faith negotiations to achieve an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire.
They also called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and all other occupied Palestinian territories. The release of all hostages and detainees held in violation of international law was also demanded, alongside sustained and unhindered access and delivery of humanitarian aid.
Furthermore, BRICS voiced its support for full Palestinian membership in the United Nations and reiterated its “unwavering commitment” to a two-state solution.
