The process of deporting undocumented foreign nationals from Pakistan has accelerated since 2023. On Tuesday, over 3,200 Afghan refugees returned to their home country from Pakistan via the Spin Boldak border crossing in Balochistan.
Ali Muhammad Haqmal, a spokesperson for the Spin Boldak Information Department, stated that in addition to the returning refugees, Pakistani authorities also handed over 60 Afghan prisoners who were incarcerated in Pakistan.
According to Haqmal, these prisoners had spent varying lengths of time in Pakistani custody, ranging from one day to two months.
It is important to note that the land route between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been closed to all types of traffic and commercial activities following clashes between the two countries in October. However, the borders are periodically opened by Pakistan to facilitate the return of Afghan migrants.
