A wave of terrorist attacks continues to sweep through the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The latest incident saw insurgents detonate explosives at a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Bannu district, marking the second major assault on healthcare facilities in the region in just two days.
According to police, the attack occurred late at night in the Mandi area, within the jurisdiction of Bunu’s Mianian police station. Terrorists planted explosives inside the BHU building before detonating them, causing a powerful blast that was heard across the area, creating widespread fear and panic among residents.
While the explosion caused partial damage to the BHU building, local sources report that thankfully, no casualties were reported. Police and law enforcement agencies immediately responded to the scene, securing the area and launching an investigation into the incident.
This attack follows a similar pattern of violence witnessed in Tank district just two days prior. Local sources report that insurgents destroyed a BHU in the village of Laki Machan Khel using heavy machinery. Additionally, government records and other materials were set ablaze at a BHU in the village of Sheikh Sultan. These attacks have severely jeopardized the provision of healthcare services in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
