A Balochistan Constabulary convoy came under attack on Friday in Mastung district, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to three others. According to Shahid Rind, the provincial government spokesperson, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle near the Choto area on the National Highway.
The targeted vehicle belonged to the acting deputy superintendent of police (DSP), according to initial reports. The injured officers were immediately transported to Shaheed Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Hospital in Quetta for treatment. A search operation is underway to apprehend the assailants, and security forces have been deployed to the scene.
This attack is the latest in a series of recent incidents targeting security forces in Balochistan. In April, a blast targeting a Balochistan Constabulary vehicle on Mastung’s Dasht Road left three policemen dead and at least 16 injured.
Other recent attacks include a July 16 incident where a passenger bus was fired upon in Kalat, killing three and injuring seven, and an attack earlier this month on a highway police vehicle in Nasirabad District, injuring three officers.
