According to official sources, at least 11 security personnel, including a Wing Commander and a Major, were martyred in an attack carried out by Pakistani Taliban militants in the Central Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The assault, which lasted for several hours, continued until early Wednesday morning, leaving two other soldiers injured.

Two Taliban commanders, including a notorious militant known as Shaheen, were killed in retaliatory fire, while six others were injured.

Initial reports suggest that the attack took place in the Jamal Mela area. Fresh reports indicate that exchange of fire is still ongoing, as security forces continue retaliatory operations in the region. The area is currently manned by the Orakzai Scouts, a paramilitary wing of the Frontier Corps.

Two days earlier, militants had attacked the Jogi check post in Murghan area of Central Kurram. On Tuesday, the Wing Commander visited the check post, and while returning, his road protection party came under attack.

The assault began on Tuesday evening and lasted for several hours until morning. Some sources have also reported that six security personnel are missing following the attack.
