Security forces killed six terrorists in Balochistan as they tried to cross the Afghan border into Pakistan on Wednesday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Sevices Public Relations, the ‘khwarij’ were trying to infiltrate the border when their presence was detected in Sambaza, in Balochistan’s Zhobdistrict.
The forces engaged the terrorists to stop their progress and killed six of them in the ensuing gunfire. ISPR said that a ‘large quantity of weapons, ammunition & explosives was also recovered’.
“Pakistan has consistently been asking Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. Interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarijfor perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan,” ISPR said in its statement.
ISPR also added that security forces are committed to securing Pakistan’s borders and eliminating terrorism from the country.
In recent months, Pakistan has repeatedly asked the interim government in Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used for terrorism across the border.
On Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that it would continue to pressure Afghanistan on the issue and will also raise it on multilateral forums. The FO also said that Afghanistan’s government has not been formally recognized by Pakistan yet.
