Pakistani security forces killed seven militants in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 8-9, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The first operation took place in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan district. Security forces engaged a group of terrorists, resulting in the deaths of three terrorists, including one identified as Rehmat. Two additional terrorists were injured.
A second operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district led to the deaths of four more terrorists following an exchange of fire. Three terrorists were injured in this engagement.
The ISPR statement indicated that sanitization operations are ongoing to ensure no remaining militants are present in the areas. The statement emphasized the Pakistani security forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism within the country.
In August 2024, Pakistan’s interior ministry announced that terrorists from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan should be referred to as ‘khwarij’ as they were misusing the name of Islam for their nefarious purposes.
