Pakistan is set to extend its ban on all Indian flights from using its airspace for one more month.
According to a Geo News report, the extension in the ban is likely to be announced soon.
The ban had been imposed by a meeting of the National Security Committee after India blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack. India had announced a number of measures including closing the Wagah-Attari border and cutting Pakistani diplomatic strength in India. In response, Pakistan has also expelled Indian diplomats and closed its airspace for all Indian planes.
According to reports, fuel costs and stopovers due to Pakistan’s ban have cost Rs8 billion in losses for Indian carriers.
Hostilities over the Pahalgam attack led to India launching missile and drone strikes against Pakistan. In response, Pakistan had downed several Indian jets and hit 26 military targets inside India. A ceasefire had then been brokered between the two countries by the United States.
