An operation by Afghan security forces was conducted last night in the Qasaba area of PD15 in Kabul against an alleged hideout of Islamic State of Khorasan’s (ISKP) operatives. According to Taliban’s mouthpiece Al Mirsad the operation also resulted in the elimination of two ISKP militants.

According to the reports, ISKP was using the site to manufacture suicide vests as well as landmines. In addition to a large cache of weapons, explosives and a suicide vest, a Toyota Corolla was also recovered from the site.

The hideout destroyed in the operation was being used as a manufacturing base from where suicide vests and explosives were transferred to other areas for attacks.

While talking to Khabar Kada, spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Interior, Abdul Mateen Qani said that a stash of Afghani currency along with US dollars was recovered from the scene.

“Our intelligence agencies, special forces and police together did this operation. The nationality of the two killed ISKP operatives is still unknown, and further investigations are ongoing,” he said.
