Indian quadcopter shot down after crossing LoC

An Indian quadcopter was shot down as it violated Pakistani airspace by crossing the Line of Control on Tuesday, according to security sources.

The quadcopter was shot down in Manawar Sector, in Bhimber, Azad Kashmir. The sources said that the the quadcopter was being used for spying.

The quadcopter was immediately detected as it crossed the border and shot down.

Tensions have been rising between Pakistan and India in recent days as both countries take measures in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.

India had blamed Pakistan for the attack, that killed at least 26 tourists, and had taken multiple measures in retaliation. India had revoked visas for Pakistanis, closed the Wagah-Attari border and reduced Pakistani diplomatic presence in the country. It had also announced that the Indus Waters Treaty will be held in abeyance.

In response, Pakistan had revoked visas for Indians, reduced Indian diplomatic presence in Pakistan and had closed its airspace for Indian-owned or -operated aircraft.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that Pakistan was reinforcing its troops as an attack from India ia ‘imminent’.
