Military honours were conferred on officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army for exceptional services in a special investiture ceremony held at the General Headquarters on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations, the awards were conferred by Army Chief General Asim Munir in recognition of ‘exceptional valour in operations and distinguished service to the nation’.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior military officials and families of the award recipients. Decorations conferred included the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat,” ISPR said.

“Medals awarded posthumously were received with honour by the families of the Shuhada,” the statement added.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Munir called martyrs and veterans the ‘enduring pride’ of the nation.

“Their honour and reverence are a sacred trust upon every Pakistani. The peace and liberty we cherish today are the result of the ultimate sacrifices rendered by these valiant sons of the soil,” General Munir said.

The COAS also expressed admiration for the ‘resilience and fortitude’ of the families of those who had been martyred in the line of duty.

General Munir also commended the resolve of the Army and law enforcement agencies in fighting terrorism.

“The COAS appreciated their relentless efforts in thwarting multiple terrorist threats and eliminating high-value terrorist operatives during ongoing counterterrorism operations,” ISPR added.

March 2025 was the deadliest month for terrorism since 2015, with 86 security forces personnel and 78 civilians losing their lives.
