CTD captures suicide bomber in Lahore

An operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department foiled a major terrorists plan in Lahore on Friday night.

According to a statement, the CTD conducted an intelligence-based operation near Barki Road in Lahore on the reported presence of terrorists. However, the suspects opened fire on the arrival of the CTD officials.

The exchange of fire led to one terrorist being injured, who managed to flee the scene. However, the other terrorist, a suicide bomber was captured.

A suicide vest, safety fuse wire, and explosive material was recovered from the captured terrorist. The would-be suicide bomber has been identified as Hafiz Shams, a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan affiliate.

After the incident, police officials reached the area and began a search operation to apprehend the other terrorist.

Authorities say that the terrorists were planning a large-scale attack in Lahore. A case has been registered.

The proscribed TTP has claimed responsibility for the plot.
