Pakistan has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s suggestion that a Palestinian state be established in Saudi Arabia, calling the proposal an “insult to the entire Muslim Ummah.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made the statement at an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah on Friday, saying that Gaza is still standing at a precipice.
Dar’s statement, focused heavily on the Israeli proposal, expressing Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and commending its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that the Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and that no external force should dictate their future.
“This is an insult to the entire Muslim Ummah. Pakistan expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and commends its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause,” he added.
The statement also addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza following the recent conflict, highlighting the immense suffering of the Palestinian people and the urgent need for humanitarian aid. Dar welcomed the ceasefire agreement but stressed that it must be fully implemented, including ensuring the unimpeded flow of humanitarian assistance.
He condemned Israel’s actions in the West Bank, including military raids, settler violence, and illegal land annexations, characterizing them as ethnic cleansing. He also criticized the failure of the Conference of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to meet its mandate. Dar further called for accountability for Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law and urged the OIC to reject any attempt to forcibly relocate Palestinians.
Finally, Dar outlined a series of recommendations for the OIC, including the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, an end to Israeli aggression in the West Bank, expanded humanitarian assistance, the prevention of forced displacement, the revival of a political process toward a two-state solution, and the holding of Israel accountable for its actions. He also welcomed the Gaza Reconstruction Plan prepared by Egypt and expressed support for Syria’s return to the OIC. He concluded that Pakistan will continue to work with the OIC and Arab partners to support the Palestinian right to self-determination, justice, and peace.
