Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, spoke with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz on Wednesday. The two discussed the strengthening relationship between the two nations.

NSA Waltz conveyed President Trump’s gratitude for Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in combating terrorism.

Senator Dar reciprocated by congratulating Waltz on his new position and expressing Pakistan’s eagerness to further develop its long-standing relationship with the United States under the Trump administration.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to continued counter-terrorism cooperation with the US, and specifically welcomed President Trump’s decision to withdraw remaining US military equipment from Afghanistan.

Beyond counter-terrorism, the discussion expanded to include several key areas of bilateral cooperation. Both sides committed to enhancing collaboration in information technology, energy, and mineral sectors.

They agreed to maintain open dialogue on trade, investment, climate change, and health issues as part of a broader cooperative agenda moving forward.

The call comes a day after US President Donald Trump announced that an ISKP terrorist, identified as Sharifullah, who was involved in the 2021 Kabul Airport bombing that killed 13 US soldiers, has been arrested with the help of Pakistan. Sharifullah has been extradited to the US.

The development was confirmed by PM Shehbaz Sharif as well, who thanked Trump for appreciating and acknowledging Pakistan’s role in fighting terrorism.
