‘Gambling with World War III’: Trump clashes with Zelensky at White House

In a bizarre event broadcast live throughout the world, United States President Donald Trump engaged in a verbal spat with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky inside the Oval Office on Friday.

Trump, accompanied with Vice President JD Vance, repeatedly accused Zelensky of disrespecting and not thanking the US enough for support in the war against Russia.

At one point, Trump even told Zelensky that he was ‘gambling with World War III’.

The clash began when Vance mentioned a need for diplomacy to end the war. In response, Zelensky asked, “What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you are asking about? What do you mean?”

“I´m talking about the kind of diplomacy that´s going to end the destruction of your country,” Vance responded. He went on to say that Zelensky should be ‘thanking’ Trump and that the Ukrainian army was filing to acquire manpower.

The Ukrainian president responded to Vance’s tirade by saying that everyone has problems in war. “You have nice solutions and don´t feel (it) now, but you will feel it in the future.”

This remark brought Trump into the argument who told Zelensky that he had no right to tell the US ‘what to feel’. He then added that Zelesnkiy was in a bad position.

“You´re gambling with lives of millions of people, you´re gambling with World War III and what you´re doing is very disrespectful to this country,” he added. He went on to say that Ukraine would have lost the war in two weeks if not for US military support

Journalists in the room also chipped into the argument, with one asking Zelensky why he was dressed in fatigues instead of a suit.

Videos of the incident showed Ukraine’s ambassador to the US grimacing as the leaders fought it out with dozens of TV cameras rolling.

Trump later posted on social media that Zelensky needs to talk about peace instead of blaming Vladimir Putin. Zelensky told Fox in an interview that he still respects Trump and ties with US were still salvageable.

US has provided billions in military aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded the country in February. Zelensky has since emerged as a key ally of the US government as well as European countries to stop Putin’s aggression. However, Trump’s tone has been harsh on Zelensky since the days of his campaign, calling the Ukrainian president as the ‘greatest salesman’, routinely getting billions of dollars from the US in aid.
