Pakistan and Japan held their fourth Counter-Terrorism Consultations in Tokyo on February 26, 2025, reaffirming their commitment to combating terrorism.
The Pakistani delegation, headed by Additional Secretary (UN) Nabeel Munir, and the Japanese delegation, led by Ambassador Minami Hiroyuki (in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime), engaged in discussions focused on evolving terrorist threats.
The consultations involved a review of national and regional terrorist threats, with both sides emphasizing their determination to confront terrorism in all its forms. The Pakistani delegation detailed recent policy changes and enforcement actions, specifically highlighting advancements in countering the financing of terrorism, dismantling terrorist networks, and bolstering border security.
Looking ahead, both nations explored avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation, including capacity-building programs and innovative technological solutions.
The meeting follows similar engagements with Turkiye, United Kingdom and European Union in recent days.
