FBR Tightens the Net: All Illegal Afghan Goods to Be Stopped at Any Cost

at 5:50 PM

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed customs officials stationed in Balochistan to significantly tighten surveillance in order to prevent the illegal movement of Afghan goods into Pakistan. The instructions were issued through an official letter sent by the FBR’s Customs Wing to the Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement Balochistan in Quetta, titled “Import of Afghan-Origin Goods.”

The letter highlights that, since the main border crossings with Afghanistan are currently closed, criminal groups may attempt to take advantage of the situation by smuggling Afghan-origin items into Pakistan through unauthorized land routes and hidden pathways.

The FBR has ordered customs authorities to ensure that all their field formations remain fully alert and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to a level where every attempt at illegal transportation can be intercepted and stopped. Officials say the purpose of this move is to completely counter any potential smuggling activities during the border closure.
