Police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and local residents have jointly carried out a major and decisive operation in the border area of Takhti Khel/Howaid, located between the Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation was launched after confirmed intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists. Following a heavy exchange of gunfire, the operation was declared successful, and so far the bodies of seven terrorists have been recovered.

According to police sources, the joint action began after residents of Takhti Khel/Landi Dak reported the presence of militants described locally as “Khawarij.” Police and CTD teams surrounded the area, leading to an intense gun battle. Officials say that after the successful operation, a search of the area is still under way.

Later, DIG Sajjad Khan briefed the media in a press conference and shared details of the operation. He said the scope of the operation has been further expanded, and additional terrorists have been killed in the latest actions. He added that security forces are identifying the militants’ hideouts and clearing the area completely.

RPO Sajjad Khan, giving a message to the nation, said: “This is not just an operation—it is a major step toward lasting peace in the region. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are ready to pay any price to protect the public. Wherever terrorists are found, they will be brought to justice.”

Sources say that one of the most important factors behind the success of the operation was the exemplary cooperation of local residents. People from the area actively supported the police and security forces, consistently reporting suspicious activities, which played a key role in making the operation successful.
