Pakistan and Canada have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing shared priorities, strengthening connections between the public and private sectors, and exploring new opportunities for strategic cooperation.

According to a joint statement, both countries are determined to work together at bilateral and global levels to promote peace, prosperity, and inclusive development. Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand also shared the joint statement on the social media platform X.

Canadian Member of Parliament Rob Oliphant confirmed that the two governments have agreed to make it easier to export Canadian canola to Pakistan, a move that will benefit both sides. MP Shafqat Ali welcomed the resumption of canola trade, calling it “good news for both countries.”

During talks between the two foreign ministers last week, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral trade. Minister Anand thanked Pakistan for granting market access for Canadian canola imports.

She later explained on X that, as a result of her diplomatic efforts, Pakistan has decided to lift restrictions on Canadian canola imports. This decision has reopened an important market for Canadian producers, and import orders have already been placed following the announcement.
