The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Islamabad has formally registered a case against Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shandana Gulzar Khan for allegedly violating the Cyber Crime Act. She has been accused of spreading anti-state and hate-inciting content through social media.
According to police sources, the case has been filed under FIR No. 296/2025. Investigations revealed that Shandana Gulzar had been using the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to continuously share fake and misleading content.
The investigation further found that the material shared by the accused contained provocative and hate-filled statements against state institutions. It is alleged that through her posts, tweets, and videos, she deliberately attempted to incite ethnic and linguistic hatred.
The case also includes a highly sensitive allegation that Shandana Gulzar shared a fake image and spread false information about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming that he had met with the Israeli Prime Minister.
According to investigating authorities, this false news and other misleading content aimed to create fear, unrest, and distrust among the public toward state institutions, posing a threat to national peace and stability.
The investigation concluded that Shandana Gulzar had intentionally promoted an anti-state narrative through the dissemination of fake news. Based on these findings, a case has been registered against her under Sections 11, 20, and 26-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.
The NCCIA stated that further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals and collaborators involved in the alleged anti-state campaign, and that more developments are expected soon.
