At least 11 militants were killed in separate security operations carried out over the past 24 hours in Chagai and Sibi districts of Balochistan, officials confirmed on Wednesday. Meanwhile, two police constables were martyred in a shooting in Nushki, and one security official lost his life in a roadside bomb blast in Kachhi.
According to officials, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in the Dalbandin area of Chagai after receiving reports about the presence of militants. The area was cordoned off, and the militants opened fire on the forces, leading to an hour-long exchange of gunfire. As a result, six terrorists were killed.
Security sources said that the militants, affiliated with a group called Fitna al-Hindustan, were hiding in the mountains and were tracked down through aerial surveillance. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from their hideout. Officials added that the operation has helped reduce threats to security personnel and civilians in the region.
In another operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) acted on intelligence reports about the presence of members of a banned organization in Sibi. CTD personnel surrounded a compound where the militants were hiding. After the militants opened fire, a gun battle lasting over an hour ensued, during which five militants were killed.
Authorities said they recovered weapons, explosives, maps, and documents containing details of planned attacks. The slain militants were reportedly involved in past attacks on security forces, police, and Levies personnel. Their bodies were shifted to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, in Nushki, two police constables — Abdul Razzaq and Obaidullah — were shot dead by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle near Gharibabad Western Bypass while they were on their way to the police lines. SHO Zahoor Baloch said both officers sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The bodies were moved to the district hospital, and an investigation is underway. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack as of Wednesday evening.
In another tragic incident, a security official was martyred in the Sanni Shoran area of Kachhi district when a roadside bomb exploded as a patrol vehicle was passing by. The explosion also caused severe damage to the vehicle, police said.
