Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while boarding his flight back home from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, shared important remarks following his participation in the Gaza Peace Summit, describing the event as potentially “historic.” He emphasized why Pakistan remained deeply engaged in the peace process.
In a message on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan’s top priority was to end the genocide campaign imposed on Gaza. He added that, together with other brotherly nations, Pakistan consistently voiced and reinforced this stance. Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for his promise to stop the violence — a promise he said Trump had fulfilled. “We will continue to appreciate President Trump’s exceptional contribution to peace,” the Prime Minister stated.
He further reiterated that the freedom, dignity, and prosperity of the Palestinian people remain Pakistan’s core concern. “Insha’Allah, the creation of a strong and viable Palestinian state — based on pre-1967 borders and with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital — will continue to be the cornerstone of Pakistan’s Middle East policy,” he added.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on Social Truth, shared his reflections on the day’s events: “Heading back to a very safe and beautiful Washington, D.C. Achieved a lot today in Israel and Egypt. A lot of work — but I wouldn’t want it any other way. It was an experience like no other! Now all the great nations that have fought so long and hard for the region must come together and finish the job! Gaza is just one part of it. The bigger goal is peace across the Middle East.”
The statements by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Trump clearly indicate that the Gaza ceasefire is being viewed as a major and transformative step toward lasting regional peace, with Pakistan playing an active and decisive role in the process.
