After the signing of the Gaza peace deal, U.S. President Donald Trump held a press conference on Monday, where he praised several global leaders, including Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, for their contributions to the agreement. Trump referred to General Munir as “my favourite field marshal” and invited Prime Minister Shehbaz to share his thoughts on the peace efforts.
In his remarks, Shehbaz Sharif called it “one of the greatest days in modern history,” crediting President Trump for his tireless work in securing peace. “President Trump is truly a man of peace who worked day and night for months to make the world more peaceful and prosperous,” he said.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan had previously nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in preventing a war and brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He added, “Today, I would once again like to nominate this great president for the Nobel Peace Prize. He brought peace to South Asia, saved millions of lives, and now, here in Sharm El-Sheikh, he has achieved peace in Gaza and is saving lives in the Middle East.”
Shehbaz further stated that without Trump and his team’s intervention during the four days of intense tension between Pakistan and India, a nuclear conflict could have erupted. He praised both President Trump and Egyptian President El-Sisi, saying their efforts deserve to be written in golden words.
He also thanked the leaders of Qatar, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE for their valuable contributions to peace in Gaza and the broader region.
