Three leading elders of the ‘Marwat Bettani National Movement’ were brutally murdered in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The slain elders have been identified as Waliullah, Farmanullah, and Ataullah.
The tragic incident occurred after the elders were abducted by terrorists two days prior from an area near the Bannu Cantt. These elders were returning from a visit to the Baran Dam in Bannu, a trip related to the movement advocating for the distribution of the dam’s water.
Sources indicate a concerning lack of significant response from the Bannu Police and other security forces in the two days following the abduction. Today, the bodies of the three abducted elders were found on the road near the Tochi Bridge in Bannu. They had been shot dead.
This heartbreaking incident has sparked a wave of grief and anger in the area, leading local residents to raise serious questions about the performance of the security institutions. Citizens are demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of these innocent individuals and the provision of justice.
