US President Donald Trump has claimed that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Syed Munir, offer their full support for the American peace plan to end the war in Gaza.
Trump made the remarks during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He stated that Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were with us right from the beginning and fully believe in this pact and back it 100 percent.
These statements come just hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had welcomed the US peace plan on his X Twitter account.
Sharif wrote that he believes a durable peace between the Palestinians and Israel is essential for political stability and economic growth in the region. He also praised President Trump’s readiness to offer all possible assistance to reach this extremely important and urgent understanding lauding, Trump’s leadership.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his country’s support for the Two-State Solution, saying he is fully convinced that implementing the two-state proposal is essential to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Reports indicate that the core elements of the Trump plan include an immediate ceasefire, a phased withdrawal of the Israeli military and the release of hostages within 48 hours. This would be followed by Israel releasing over a thousand Palestinian prisoners.
However, Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, has publicly expressed his determination to finish the job against Hamas and rejected the recognition of a Palestinian state, highlighting significant obstacles still facing the plan. Further difficulties include concerns among Arab nations and Israel regarding the role of an international force in Gaza post-conflict and the future involvement of the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of over 66,055 Palestinians, most of whom were civilians.
