Following a successful negotiation between Balochistan’s provincial authorities and opposition party leaders, over 200 political workers and workers were released on Tuesday, September 10, 2025.
These individuals had been arrested the previous day during a wheel-jam and shutter-down strike that involved clashes with police and road blockades in Quetta and other cities. The arrests stemmed from protests against a recent suicide bombing at a BNP-M rally that resulted in over a dozen deaths.
The agreement reached involves the government withdrawing all cases filed against the arrested individuals across Balochistan.
In return, opposition parties pledged to coordinate all future rallies and public gatherings with district administrations, adhering to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure peaceful and lawful demonstrations. T
he negotiations, held at the commissioner’s office, involved high-ranking government officials and representatives from several opposition parties, including the BNP, PkMAP, National Party, ANP, PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami, and MWM.
