Police in Dera Ismail Khan announced major successes within the last 24 hours, arresting three wanted dacoits in injured condition and killing two terrorists in separate encounters.

District Police Officer Sajad Ahmad Sahibzada, accompanied by senior officials of the CTD and City Circle, briefed the media at the Police Command and Control Centre about the operations. He said that the first incident occurred in Gilani Town within the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station, where police received information about the presence of suspicious armed motorcyclists.

When City Circle Police led by DSP Muhammad Adnan attempted to intercept them, the suspects opened fire on police vehicles. The police retaliated, injuring all three men, who were then shifted to hospital. According to the DPO, the arrested dacoits were wanted in several cases, including the daylight murder of trader leader Rana Aslam and his associate Javed, and further interrogation is expected to bring important revelations.

In another intelligence-based operation conducted by the CTD and district police near Sikandar Road in the Proa area, two terrorists belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Bali Khyara group were killed. They were identified as Rashid, son of Alam Sher, resident of Chajri, and Rafiuddin, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Lar Mahra.

From their possession, police recovered a Kalashnikov rifle with three magazines, fifty-five rounds of 7.62 bore cartridges, two hand grenades, a rocket launcher, four rocket shells, and seven rocket boosters.
Officials confirmed that the slain terrorists were wanted in cases of targeted killings of police personnel and Shia leaders, as well as attacks on security forces.
