Afghan nationals continue to be repatriated across the Torkham border after a deadline for their legal stay in Pakistan expired, according to immigration officials.
On Tuesday alone, a total of 505 Afghan refugees holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards voluntarily returned to Afghanistan. In addition, 58 Afghan citizens with Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) also crossed back into their home country the same day.
Officials further reported that 643 undocumented Afghan nationals, lacking valid travel documents, were deported from the Torkham border on the same day.
Since August 1, a total of 924 PoR cardholders have voluntarily repatriated, while the cumulative number of ACC cardholders who have returned to Afghanistan now stands at 43,944, immigration sources confirmed.
Authorities say the repatriation efforts are part of an ongoing process to regulate the stay of Afghan nationals in Pakistan and facilitate their return in coordination with relevant departments.
