A joint operation by the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies has thwarted a major terrorist plot in Rawalpindi, resulting in the arrest of Musa, a highly dangerous member of the ‘Fitna Al-Khwarij’ group.
According to a statement from CTD, Musa was apprehended following an intelligence-based operation. A significant cache of explosives, weapons, hand grenades, prima cord detonators, remote control devices, safety fuses (7 feet), and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
The spokesperson stated that Musa had completed reconnaissance of sensitive locations in Rawalpindi and had recently uploaded a video of a target location to social media. He had received training in Afghanistan on multiple occasions and maintained constant contact with a senior commander of the Khwarij group.
A case has been registered against Musa, and further investigations are underway. The CTD spokesperson emphasized that this timely intervention prevented a major tragedy in Rawalpindi.
