Two young children lost their lives in a suspected quadcopter strike near their home in the village of Raghzai, located within the jurisdiction of the Gomal police station in Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The tragic incident occurred Tuesday morning as the children, identified as six-year-old Arafat and six-year-old Shoaib, were leaving for school. A mortar shell, allegedly dropped from a quadcopter, exploded near them, instantly killing both children.
Rescue workers swiftly responded, transporting the bodies to the Tank District Headquarters Hospital for legal proceedings and autopsies.
Following the incident, enraged residents staged a protest, blocking the main highway leading to Waziristan near the Kuar area. The families of the victims and local residents blocked the main Wana-Jandola Road, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident and the prosecution of those responsible.
