At least two men including Awami National Party leader Maulana Khan Zeb were killed by firing from unknown men in Bajaur on Thursday.
Zeb was campaigning for the Aman Pasoon when he was fired upon at Shandai Mor in Bajaur. At least one other person was killed while three other were injured.
The ANP leader was conducting his campaign ahead of the Aman Pasoon rally set to take place on July 13 in Bajaur.
Videos of Zeb’s car riddled with bullet holes were also posted on several social media platforms. He was severely injured in the incident and was taken to a local hospital where he passed away.
Zeb had been a candidate for the National Assembly in Bajaur in the general elections in 2024.
Bajaur has been the scene of several terrorist attacks in recent weeks. A recent bombing had claimed the life of the area’s assistant commissioner as well.
An attack on a Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam rally in Bajaur in 2023 had claimed 44 lives and injured over 200 others.
